Invited Application at Wildlife Institute of India for Project Veterinarian in Aug 2014
Engagement of one Project Veterinarian under the project "Strengthening veterinary interventions in Tiger Reserves"
The Wildlife Institute of India provides inputs on wildlife health activities to the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India (National Tiger Conservation Authority and Central Zoo Authority) as well as various state-wildlife agencies. Recent times have witnessed a manifold increase in such interventions provided by the Institute to various agencies. These include inputs on issues related to reintroduction/translocation; rescue and rehabilitation of wild animals in distress; capture for radio-collaring and human-wildlife conflict mitigation and managing health of wild animals including investigations of disease events. The NTCA has granted funding support for carrying out such activities.
The essential and desirable qualifications, emoluments are given below:
- Essential Qualifications - Candidate must possess a M.V.Sc. (Surgery. Medicine. Microbiology. Pathology. Wildlife Health)/M.Sc. (Wildlife Science) Degree and should have veterinary background (B.V. Sc.) from a recognized University.
- Desirable Qualifications - 3 year work experience in field of animal capture, wildlife ecology, population management and understanding of management of animals in distress. Good writing, publishing and documentation skills.
- Emoluments - Consolidated Rs, 50,000/- per month (All Inclusive). Tax deduction at source (TDS) as applicable would be made.
- Age Limit - Not more than 40 years as on 1st July. 2014.
Mode of Engagement
- All interested candidates should send their application in the prescribed format (Annexure -1) by post to the Head. Department of Wildlife Health Management, Wildlife Institute of India, P.O. Box # 18, Chandrabani, Dehradun, Uttarakhand on or before 31st August 2014. The shortlisted candidates may have to appear for a screening test (to test their proficiency in Wildlife Sciences) and those qualifying the written test would be interviewed.
